Auf einem zusammengeklappten Tisch sitzend wurde Camaro 1962/63 von Lothar Wolleh fotografiert. Unser #weeklycamaro #41, eine Übermalung dieser Fotografie durch Camaro, verdeutlicht den künstlerischen Austausch zwischen dem Künstler und dem Fotografen.
Mit der Übermalung schafft Camaro eine neue Situation: die Szene findet nun vor einer Holzwand statt, im Hintergrund ragen Tannen in die Höhe. Der Tisch wandelt sich in ein Rouletterad. Fliege und Zylinder schmücken den nun bärtigen Protagonisten.

Sitting on a folded table, Camaro was photographed by Lothar Wolleh in 1962/63. Our #weeklycamaro #41, which is a portrait, photographed by Wolleh, and painted over by Camaro, illustrates the artistic exchange between the artist and photographer. In that time, Lothar Wolleh portraited Camaro several times, for example in Hameln during an exhibition by Camaro in 1964.
With the overpainting, Camaro creates a new situation: the scene now takes place in front of a wooden wall, with fir trees in the background. The table turns into a roulette table wheel. Bow tie and cylinder adorn the now bearded protagonist.

Camaro zitiert in unserem #weeklycamaro #40 die antike Priesterin im Orakel von Delphi und platziert sie an den Strand. Vor der in Flächen aufgelösten Landschaft „schaut (die) weise Frau die Betrachter:innen in der klassischen Melancholiepose mit aufgestützter Hand unvermittelt an“*.
Pythia begegnet uns mit einem geheimnisvollen Lächeln. „Was prophezeit nun die geheimnisvolle Priesterin (…)? Vielleicht das nicht zu entschlüsselnde Geheimnis des Bildes, das der Künstler einmal in einem Gedicht gefasst hat: Ein gutes Bild trägt ein Geheimnis“*.

„Pythia am Strand“ ist noch bis zum 18.06.2023 in der Retrospektive „Alexander Camaro. Die Welt de Scheins“ im Angermuseum zu sehen.

Camaro quotes in the painting „Pythia am Strand“ the ancient priestess in the Oracle of Delphi and places her on the beach. In front of a landscape dissolved in areas, the „wise woman looks a the viewer in the classic melancholy pose and her head rest on one hand.“
Pythia, the fortune-telling priestess, interacting with a mysterious smile. „What does the (…) priestess prophesty? (…) Perhaps the paintings secret that cannot be deciphered? The artist himself once said: a good painting carries a secret“.
